The Workforce Investment Board (WIB) is a regional, employer-led advisory and planning body focused on strengthening the local workforce and aligning workforce development activities with the needs of employers, job seekers, education providers, and community partners. WIBs work to support job creation, career pathways, training resources, and employer engagement in our region, all with the goal of improving economic opportunity for residents and businesses alike.
In our region, the River Valley Workforce Investment Board brings together business leaders, public and nonprofit partners, and training providers to collaborate on workforce solutions that help employers find talent and help job seekers access opportunities and support.
The River Valley Employment Fair is a free, community-wide job fair that connects job seekers of all backgrounds with regional employers who are hiring across industries. Held annually at Riverside Middle School, the fair offers attendees the chance to meet hiring employers, learn about career opportunities, gather resources, and explore pathways to work and training and is committed to strengthening our local workforce.
The Springfield Regional Development Corporation (SRDC) and the Springfield Area Working Communities Challenge (WCC) support the River Valley Employment Fair by helping to align employer needs, job seeker access, and community resources into one coordinated event. Through SRDC’s regional business relationships and workforce development efforts, and WCC’s cross-sector collaboration focused on reducing barriers to employment, both partners help ensure the fair is responsive, inclusive, and impactful.
